Chestnut Health Systems™ provides comprehensive treatment for children and youth ages infant to 21. We emphasize the importance of both the child and the parent understanding children's needs, behaviors and symptoms.

We offer effective, short-term interventions for a variety of difficulties faced by young people. Our treatment staff is experienced in helping families and children cope with mental health issues like depression and grief, anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioral problems, family conflict, blended family issues, and serious trauma. Families with limited resources are typically eligible for financial assistance.

In working with children and families, Chestnut provides advocacy, case management, connections to community support, help in crisis situations, classes for parents, family counseling, group therapy, individual counseling, and consultation and evaluation by a psychiatrist as needed.

Mental Health Juvenile Justice

An estimated 66 percent of youth involved in the juvenile justice system have symptoms related to a significant mental illness. Chestnut understands the challenges children and families face when an adolescent is involved with the juvenile justice system. Chestnut's Mental Health Juvenile Justice (MHJJ) program addresses mental health issues with the goal of avoiding re-arrest. MHJJ strengthens relationships among families, schools, courts, probation offices, and community partners.

MHJJ serves youth ages 10 to 18 in Madison and St. Clair Counties in Illinois who are involved with the juvenile justice system, are experiencing mental health symptoms and have a medical card.

School-Based Services

Chestnut's school-based programs help children who are having issues related to their mental health. We typically work with children at school, but can also provide help at the child’s home or elsewhere in the community. We collaborate with the school and the child’s family to diagnose and treat mental health issues and provide support.
