Chestnut Health Systems, including Chestnut Consumer Credit Counseling (sometimes referred to herein as "we" or "our"), is committed to assuming the privacy of an individual and/or families who have contacted us for assistance. We assure you that all information shared verbally and in writing will be managed within the confines of all legal and ethical considerations. Your "personal financial information", such as your total debt information, income, living expenses, and personal information concerning your financial circumstances will be provided to creditors, and possibly others with your specific authorization.

We may also use aggregated case file information for the purpose of evaluating our services, gathering valuable research information and designing future programs. In all such cases, your anonymity will be maintained.

Your information may be released to appropriate individuals or agencies only upon your written request, when required by a court of law, or when otherwise required by law.

Please know that:

  1. We will not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our current or former clients to anyone except as permitted or required by law.
  2. We may compile data and aggregate information that you give to us but, this information will not be disclosed in a manner that would personally identify you in any way.
  3. We may disclose some or all of the information we collect to creditors or third parties, but only when you have provided specific authorization to do so or when we determine there is a need for us to do so in order to assist you after a counseling session.
  4. We may disclose some or all of the information we collect to creditors and related financial institutions that need such information in order to put you on a debt solver program (DSP).
  5. We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those of our employees who have a need to know such information in order to provide services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with Federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.
  6. We collect and may disclose nonpublic personal information about you we receive or collect from the following sources: (a) your application or other forms you complete and provide to us; (b) your transactions with us, your creditors, and others; and (c) credit reporting agencies.
