Finding help for an alcohol or drug addiction can seem confusing and cause stress for anyone; however, Chestnut’s dedicated staff will help you through the whole process. Chestnut’s comprehensive adult assessment is the first step in determining what treatment, if any, is needed. The assessment takes into account all aspects of one’s life to ensure his or her exact needs are addressed. An assessment includes an individual diagnostic test, a consultation with a counselor, a urine drug screening, collection and review of relevant medical, legal, mental health and previous treatment records, and a physical screening and assessment for detoxification.

The assessment allows us to learn about the whole person and determines what type of addiction or mental health treatment is appropriate. After the assessment, a counselor will work with the adult to get him or her enrolled in treatment. Adult assessments are available at our BellevilleBloomington and Granite City Illinois facilities.
