Adolescent alcohol or drug use is serious at any level. Knowing the right thing to do and finding help can feel overwhelming. Chestnut will guide you through each step in the process.

An assessment is the first step in determining if a person needs addiction counseling and treatment. The assessment will also determine appropriate services for each person. Chestnut works with families and with a variety of referral sources to help a young person find the most appropriate help. Sometimes, a free, brief phone screening can determine whether a full assessment is the next step. To schedule an assessment, call us at 888.924.3786 and ask to speak with a member of the adolescent intake staff.

Chestnut uses a research-based assessment tool, the Global Assessment of Individual Needs (GAIN), to accurately determine a diagnosis and develop a recommendation for treatment. The GAIN assessment was developed and tested by Chestnut’s research and training division, Lighthouse Institute, and is used by hundreds of organizations throughout the country. This comprehensive assessment helps us learn about the whole person in order to provide individualized treatment that effectively matches a young person’s needs.

Adolescent assessments are available at our Bloomington and Peoria Illinois facilities.
