One of the central challenges in providing effective addiction treatment and recovery support services is adapting the design and delivery of such services for developmental appropriateness. This is especially true for transition age youth whose needs may not be well served in either adolescent or adult service systems. I recently announced the availability of a new resource, Substance Use Disorder Peer Supervision Competencies, developed with support of a grant from the Oregon Health Authority (Health Services Division). A companion document, Substance Use Disorder Transition Age Youth: Peer Delivered Services?Best Practices Curriculum, has just been completed and is recommended for review by those working with this population. Many locally developed products like these developed in Portland, Oregon, can be of great benefit to communities across the country and beyond. My compliments to all who were involved in this effort.
