Mothers who are DCFS-referred and in need of a stable, safe, supportive environment in which to undertake the difficult tasks associated with recovery may be eligible for residence in the Women’s Recovery Housing Program. The scattered-site housing program provides housing, on-site services, and linkage with the Women’s Recovery Program within Chestnut Health Systems. Mothers and their minor children may live for a year or more in the program, learning to adjust to life in a supportive setting. Expectations of residents include:

  • To be actively involved in the development and the implementation of their treatment goals and service plan.
  • To ensure that the residence is drug- and crime-free.
  • To maintain apartment and furnishings in a clean and appropriate manner.
  • To become an interactive, productive, and supportive partner in the Women’s Recovery Program by being truthful to self and the program.

A case manager will assist the residents with various living needs during their stay in the Housing Program. These may include family nutrition, budgeting, housekeeping, medical needs, parenting, financial, educational, and vocational needs. If the family is in need of mental health counseling, the mental health staff at Chestnut Health Systems can provide these services in an integrated approach.
