A TREATMENT ALTERNATIVE FOR DUALLY DIAGNOSED OFFENDERS: FINAL REPORT ON THE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS TASC/MISA DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

S. H. Godley, M. McDermeit, L. Passetti

This report describes a demonstration project which was funded by the Office of Rural Health Policy of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to a substance abuse treatment agency in Illinois during the time period from September 1, 1994 to August 31, 1997. The project was a joint venture between Illinois Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities (TASC) and Fellowship House designed to provide case management services for persons with co-existing mental illness and substance abuse problems (MISA) who were involved in the criminal justice system. The report provides a description of the project, process and outcome data from the project, and a description of the procedures and critical components of the project provided by key project staff and stakeholders in order to enable replication of these services in other rural areas.
