CHS Home > Services > Counseling & Family Services > Central Illinois > GROUPS Anger Management GroupThe Chestnut Anger Management Group is designed to meet the needs of men who have experienced consequences as a result of their anger. Such problems may include an arrest, relationship difficulty, job difficulty, or other problems. It is understood that all people will become angry at one time or another. However, the group emphasizes that we have a choice about how to respond when we become angry. The group is open to men who have been violent or aggressive in various situations or toward someone other than a partner. Participants will learn how to remain non-violent when angry, how to recognize their warning signs of anger and stress, and how to resolve problems and communicate clearly and respectfully. The goal is for each participant to understand and use the skills from the program to develop and maintain respectful and violence-free relationships. The group meets one time per week on Thursday evening for 1½ hours, and participants who successfully complete our program are required to attend a minimum of 16 sessions. All participants must first attend an initial two-session assessment before starting group. Those interested in scheduling an assessment may contact Chestnut Health Systems at 309-820-3500.
