Research has shown that group therapy can help people feel better about themselves, feel more confident, and resolve problems more effectively than other forms of therapy. In group therapy, clients are part of a group of people who share the same or very similar concerns, pains and struggles.

The counselor facilitating the group ensures a healthy environment for personal growth, emotional safety and confidentiality. The facilitator promotes positive feedback and helpful communications with others. Everyone in the group commits to keeping everything that is said in the group confidential.

Chestnut Family and Counseling Services currently has the following groups meeting regularly:

Children First which provides divorcing/divorced parents with the opportunity to learn about and discuss the effects that divorce and changing family situations have on children.

Invitation to Responsibility (ITR) for men who have committed acts of domestic violence and abuse.

Safe.Equal.Caring.Understanding.RElationships (SECURE) for women who have been or are currently in relationships that are threatening.

Anger Management for men who have experienced consequences as a result of their anger.

For more information about any of these groups, please contact us at 309-820-3500.
