Phase one is the most intensive--participants attend group and individual sessions on 4 days per week for 4 hours a day. Participants must maintain a minimum of 30 days of sobriety in order to progress to phase two. Phase one services are provided at Venice-Lincoln Technical Center, where Drug Court participants benefit from adult basic education, vocational skills classes, and career training on-site. In-County transportation is available to all phase one Drug Court clients.
Drug Court treatment components include:
- Drug education
- Learning how to participate in self-help groups and the recovery community
- Groups in stress management and assertiveness training
- Skills training in relapse prevention, and coping skills associated with healthy life styles
- Structured, cognitive-behavioral groups in decision-making and skills of empathy, and pro-social reasoning and behavior
- Acupuncture
- Parenting and the impact of substance abuse on children and families
- Structured participation in adult basic education, vocational readiness training, or employment
- Psychiatric consultation as needed
