Adults in substance abuse treatment may benefit from psychiatric services provided by consulting psychiatrists within the agency. These services include consultation, assessment, medication management and treatment for acute psychiatric conditions. Madison County programs have a strong interest in addressing the difficult issues faced by adults with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse (also referred to as MISA), and psychiatric consultation is an important component of MISA services.
