INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT
The southern region's Intensive Outpatient Treatment program (IOP) is a community-based intervention for adults who demonstrate a willingness to learn new behaviors needed to achieve a productive life free of substance abuse. A major strength of this program is the provision of comprehensive support to assist participants to review and change the attitudes, behaviors and thinking patterns which contribute to addiction and negative outcomes. Participants are encouraged to choose workable personal goals, and to pursue change in an atmosphere of honest communication and emotional safety. The Intensive Outpatient program consists of individual and group counseling sessions, and group-based education and skills building in the following areas:
- Drug education
- Individual and group counseling
- Learning how to participate in self-help groups and the recovery community
- Groups in stress management, coping skills, and relapse prevention
- Acupuncture
The southern region's IOP program is located at Venice-Lincoln Technical Center, in southern Madison County. IOP participants may benefit from concurrent enrollment in the Center's adult education, pre-employment skills, and career training programs. Participants attend IOP sessions 4 hours per day for 4 days a week.
OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM
In Madison County, Chestnut offers outpatient treatment at each of three satellite probation offices in the communities of East Alton, Edwardsville, and Madison. Most adults in outpatient treatment have progressed through either Drug Court or the Intensive Outpatient program to our Outpatient program. However, one need not be a probation client to attend outpatient treatment. Chestnut therapists provide individual and group counseling, and assist persons to engage in the self-help and recovery community. Day and evening appointments are available.
