CHS Home > Services > Adolescent Chemical Dependency Treatment Services > Central Illinois > SCREENING & ASSESSMENT Alcohol and drug use among adolescents is serious at any stage. Intervening in a child's use at an early point will help address current problems and often alleviate future substance issues from occurring. Families worried about their child's involvement with drugs may schedule a drug screening and evaluation with Chestnut Health Systems. A thorough outpatient assessment will be conducted to ensure that each young person's needs are assessed properly and that if mental health or chemical dependency treatment is needed, that they are referred to the program that will best meet their and their family's needs. Chestnut's therapists work with probation officers, truancy officers, judges, school administrators, parents and other human service professionals in order to provide young people in crisis an accurate assessment and referral. The assessment will help evaluate the level of use/abuse and determine the most appropriate level of treatment. Treatment recommendations may range from participation in an early intervention program in the young person's school to residential treatment.
